UCF LOPRO ('97-'02 TJ) Transmission Mount

LOPRO mount for '97-'02 TJ, almost 3/4" shorter.

The '97-'02 TJ gets its own LOPRO transmission mount, almost 3/4" shorter than the factory piece. That lets a 3" suspension lift go in with no drop-down spacers on the stock transfer case skid, or a tummy-tuck skid with no body lift.

How it works

• Direct replacement for the factory transmission mount
• Almost 3/4" shorter than the factory piece, lowering the transfer case down into the skid plate by the same amount
• That 3/4" of extra clearance goes far toward reducing metal-on-metal vibration and avoiding body lifts
• Uses 2 rubber bushings to isolate the transmission from the skid plate: a 3/16" sheet of soft rubber separates the 2 halves of the mount and provides tension, so under load in forward gears the powertrain transfers energy to a secondary round bushing on the outer edge of the mount. That round bushing is what really holds the mount together and provides all the vibration isolation in reverse.

Expect some increased powertrain vibration at idle that goes away when the engine is at speed.

What's included: Upper and lower body pieces, round bushing with center sleeve, flat sheet bushing, 1/4" spacer bracket, 1/2"-13 cross bolt and nut, and four 1" lower bolts with flat washers for mounting to the transfer case skid.

Won't fit: an automatic transmission in the early TJ. The adapter that attaches the mount to the skid plate doesn't adequately support the bottom of the LOPRO mount.

Install notes

• The factory bracket that connects the transmission mount to the transmission needs some modification: you will shorten a flange with a sawzall or angle grinder.
• The 1/4" spacer is also sold separately.
• On some Jeeps the rubber bushing on the passenger side sits close to the catalytic converter. If it does, move the converter slightly forward or rearward so exhaust heat can't damage the bushing.
• On the early TJ, the mount installs turned about 180° from the way it goes on an '03–'06 TJ, so it clears the early transfer case.

Finish: ships assembled but unpainted. Paint the bare steel before you install it.
