Jeep NP231 & NP242 Novak Cable Shifter Assembly

Fix factory transfer case shifting for good.

Novak designed this cable shifter to permanently cure the binding, slop and kick-outs of the factory NP231 and NP242 linkage. It replaces every linkage part under the shift handle with a smooth, precise cable, and keeps your factory shift lever and console for a clean, stock-looking interior. It's a proven upgrade for Jeeps with body lifts, long-arm kits or drivetrain swaps, or just a worn-out factory linkage.

Novak's control cable: stainless inner cable, heavy-duty crimped ends, a high-temperature industrial outer sheath and a very low-friction Teflon liner. It won't bind even in bends as tight as 5", and every part is made in the USA.

What's included: body mounting bracket, flex-mount well nuts, control cable, transfer case anchor bracket, bearing ends, hardware and instructions.

Install notes: basic hand tools are all you need, and most owners finish in an afternoon. The skid plate may need to come off.

Fits Jeep 6-bolt NP/NVG transfer cases, including the NP231 and NP242 (1988 and newer). Because the bracket mounts to the transfer case, it works with nearly any transmission. Not for the NV241OR Rubicon case; see our 241OR cable shifter. Novak kit # SK2XC.
